Architects Karin Hupperts and Mieke Goegebuer want to go back to the mid fifties with the return of the dike watch, the concrete flower pots, the straight stairs to the roof terrace and the original floor and wall tiling.
The Council chose in favour of a new swimming pool, a sunbathing area and a children's paradise with pools for toddlers.
The total cost amounts to nearly 3.6 million. For the protected building Koksijde will receive subsidies.

After a selection procedure, the winning design was chosen from the 5 laureates. The 'College Communal at Verviers' definitively assigned the works on the 23.12.2011 to the following team:

• OFFICE FRESH PLUS THE BIEN-ETRE / V + (Brussels) and PROJECTILES (Paris): Design architecture, interior and stage design,
• BUREAU BOUWTECHNIEK: Implementation architecture and scenography
• AVAPARTNERS: Design and implement restoration
• BUREAU D'ETUDES GREISCH: Stability and techniques
• DAIDALOS PEUTZ: EPB and acoustics.

All parasitic interventions, such as the garage in the courtyard, will be removed. The early 19th century building is a protected monument and will be respectfully restored: the austere architecture of the new facades will reflect in a playful way the historic facades and make the passerby in the street curious. The two new museum wings are situated along the edge of the site and embrace, along with the historic building wings, the new courtyard. This new courtyard will give back oxygen to the site and will form the new access to the museum.
